So I just finished filling out a pre-school form for Carter. There are only 2 public pre-schools in Fort Wayne available for him to attend. The other pre-schools in the area are either private (which we would have to pay for) or else they are Title 1 schools, which means they are for low-income families.
The good news is that even though there are only 2 pre-school choices, they are both within a 10 minute drive from our house.
The bad news is that since these 2 schools are both magnet schools, they always get a large number of applications each year, which makes space limited. So therefore, they have a public lottery, which will be held on March 27th. So if Carter's name doesn't get drawn that day, he's out of luck and we will have to skip pre-school I guess. We don't have the money to send him to a private school, but I am not too worried about it. He is a fast learner.
The other thing I am hoping for is that if he is chosen, that he will get morning pre-school and not afternoon. It would make it much easier so that I could take him to school, go to work, and then pick him up on my lunch hour and take him to his babysitters. It will be a lot of running around, but I am more than willing to do it. :)

fingers-crossed!! but i never went to preschool and i turned out ok i think ;)
Me too, Ab. I never went, but that was 25 years ago, and I think most kids go now, cuz they are learning so much more earlier and earlier. My only fear is that he would be behind everyone else.
Sounds like my days. I take Elijah to pre-K before work, pick him up at lunch, run home to eat, drop him off at the babysitter's, and go back to work. It can get old....
But hopefully he gets in. Lij also did preschool and while we had some issues, I can tell a difference in him this year.
I can't wait to start looking into that for Hunter. He is so ready to go to school, but besides the day care and private ones at churches, I don't think that there are any other ones in DeKalb county...I will have to find out.
GOOD LUCK CARTER JAMES
