Skatin Party

Carter and Hunter
(I just noticed how perfect Hunter's hair is. Reminds me of Zac Efron)

Danielle's son Hunter turned 5 on Thursday and had a big birthday bash at the Auburn Skatin Station. All the cousins got to enjoy a first time experience roller skating. Carter and Jordan were both like limp noodles as soon as they hit the floor. I was using all my might to keep Carter and myself from falling as his legs went way in and way out. And being pregnant, I had to be extra careful. But luckily, they had special roller skates that you could put on over your shoes for smaller kids. So they quickly changed into those and Carter was able to even go around the floor several times alone, although he was pretty much walking and not skating, but hey, he felt like a big kid. ;) Jordan on the other hand was happy one minute, and wanting to go home the next. He was in need of a nap I think. I think Hunter was the only one who was wearing regular roller skates and doing a pretty good job! I was impressed. Although, I also have to give props to my nephew Hudson, age 2, who had on the special skates, but was going around the floor alone several times. He is the cutest little guy! The kids all enjoyed cupcakes and balloons after skating. It was a very cute party.

This picture is pretty blurry. It wasn't great lighting and of course everyone was moving very fast on their skates.

Jordan turns 4

Over the weekend Jordan turned 4. We had family come over in the afternoon and celebrated with iced angel food cake and ice cream. Jordan was kind of a brat that day to be honest. He kept telling us that he was "the birthday king" and whenever I told him to do something, he would reply with, "No, I don't have to, it's my birthday." Grrr... Let's just say he had a few time outs that day. I added a video at the end, which kind of shows off his attitude that day, which was rude, but the video is pretty funny.

Growing Pains

Nik and I have been a little worried about Jordan lately because over the last few months, he will wake up in the night probably once every couple weeks and complain that his leg/ankle hurts very badly. The first few times we just told him he was laying on his leg wrong and that it probably fell asleep. But a couple nights ago he cried hard for a good five minutes about it.

And Carter will complain about his leg during the daytime, but that has only happened a couple times. So I did some research online this morning and I believe I have found the answer. Growing Pains... I guess it can be very common in toddlers to wake up in the middle of the night and complain about leg pain. One lady commented that her son started that at age 4 and still has them at age 6. And other said her child had them for several years and is very tall.

There were several things that were offered as help though such as:

Doing foot and leg stretches during the day.
Stretching the foot up during the painful time and adding heat to the hurting area.
A warm bath before bed.
One lady said a banana before bed for potassium. Whatever works I guess
A drink of water before bed.
Tylenol for the pain.

It will be interesting to see if Jordan grows a bunch in the next year. I have a growth chart, so I will be watching. Poor little guy though. I hate seeing him cry about it. It breaks my heart. Glad it is nothing serious though. But at our next wellness check, we will get him checked out for sure.

Hey Barb, did Nik or Nate ever have growing pains in the night as kids?
